Sheikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has been appointed as the CEO of the National Center for Cybersecurity.
Sheikh Salman graduated from Suffolk University in Boston Massachusetts, USA with a Double Major in Accounting & Information Technology. He started his illustrious career in the Central Informatics Organization (CIO), in addition to his time served at the Royal Court to set up the IT infrastructure. He held several positions over the course of his tenure in the Information and eGovernment Authority (IGA) totaling up to over 20 years of extensive experience in the IT field. His positions in IGA ranged from being a Network Engineer, to Head of the Smart Card Initiative Project Section, up to the position of General Director of Information Technology and finally elevated to Executive Vice President of Operations and Governance.
Amongst the most significant projects that he achieved at the IGA was the execution of the New Government Data Network (GDN) project where the High Speed MPLS resulted in linking all of Bahrain’s governmental agencies together. In addition, he oversaw the development of the National Identity Card using the Smartcard Technology.
Sheikh Salman also developed and implemented applications for several critical Government Organizations, which enabled the e-Government program to deliver e-Services through the National Portal (bahrain.bh) by linking the systems in various organizations. He also established the Government’s private cloud which is the foundation for the consolidation project in government agencies. Currently he is leading the Government of Bahrain’s Technical team in migrating the IT services to AWS.
