Sarah Hendriks is Officer-in-Charge for the Deputy Executive Director, Normative Support, United Nations System Coordination and Programme Results at UN Women, which advances gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. Previously she led the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s first gender equality strategy, driving $170 million for women’s economic empowerment and $80 million for gender data, and served as Director of Gender Equality & Social Inclusion at Plan International, steering €500 million toward adolescent girls’ initiatives and chairing the State of the World’s Girls report. She holds a Master’s in International Community Development from the University of Toronto.
