Orhan Osmani is the Head (Acting Interim), Cybersecurity Division (Resilience) at the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
Orhan has more than two decades of work in the field of ICT, with 13 years of international development experience, and over 10 years of private sector experience. Before joining ITU, Orhan worked in the private sector in the Asia and Pacific region, where he held a variety of roles linked to information security. He has experience in network, application and communication security, process implementation and review, identity and access management, emergency telecommunications, among others. He built his experience with niche consulting firms, large telcos, and multinational companies, such as Oracle where he worked with government and private sector enterprise clients.
In ITU’s Development Sector he leads a small team of cybersecurity professionals that develop and implement cybersecurity initiatives supporting developing countries and Least Developed Countries (LDCs). He worked in emergency telecommunication division and was deployed to help countries with post-disaster response.
He holds an engineering degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in IT.
He is married and has two children.
