72% of children globally have been victims of cyber threats

A new global report from The Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF), has found that 72% of children around the world have experienced at least one type of cyber threat online. The ‘Why Children Are Unsafe in Cyberspace’ report, developed in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group, focuses on raising awareness on the critical issues facing the protection of children in Cyberspace, at a time when over 90% of children aged eight and above are active on the internet.

The Empowering Women to Work in Cybersecurity is a Win-Win, report is a collaboration between the Boston Consulting Group and The Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) focused on the key actions that need to be taken to meet the growing gender divide in cybersecurity. The study targeted female undergraduate students studying Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) across six regions and 26 countries. The survey aims to provide insight into the potential challenges facing women entering STEM studies, as well as women’s long-term career prospects in cybersecurity.

In this new report, GCF and the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) reveal the extent of the global shortfall of cybersecurity professionals and in the skills most in demand. With only 72% of roles filled and women representing only 24% of the cybersecurity workforce, the sector faces an urgent challenge in building a future-ready workforce. Cybersecurity’s new complexities have amplified the demand for cybersecurity teams with the skills and acumen to stay ahead of threats. The report’s strategic recommendations outline solutions for attracting new talent that will grow the workforce and narrow the skills gapwhile enhancing gender diversity – key to broadening and strengthening cybersecurity capabilities.
