Dr Afrooz Kaviani Johnson is based at UNICEF’s New York HQ and leads efforts to protect children online. She manages global partnerships and policy advocacy and supports UNICEF offices around the world. Afrooz has over 15 years’ experience leading teams and initiatives aimed at promoting children’s rights and combatting child abuse and exploitation. She was previously posted in Malawi, and before that in Thailand, where she worked across South-East Asia and the Pacific.
Earlier in her career, Afrooz worked as a Senior Investigator and Conciliator for Australia’s Human Rights Commission, and as a lawyer.
She holds a PhD, Juris Doctor, and Master of Social Science.
