Bio
William H. Dutton is an Oxford Martin Fellow at the Global Cyber Security Capacity Centre, University of Oxford and Director of the Portulans Institute. He was the founding director of the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), the first Professor of Internet Studies at Oxford, a Fulbright Scholar, National Director of the UK’s Programme on Information and Communication Technologies (PICT), Professor of Media and Information Policy at the Quello Center, Michigan State University, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Southern California. Bill’s most recent book is The Fifth Estate: The Power Shift of the Digital Age (Oxford University Press 2023).
