Bio
Mr. Odhran McCarthy is the New York Liaison Officer for the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). Based at United Nations Headquarters in New York, he leads UNICRI’s engagement with the broader UN system and its Member States. His work focuses on UNICRI’s programmes on cybercrime, online harms, and new technologies, this includes AI innovation in law enforcement and the risks posed by the malicious use of new technologies by terrorist groups, violent extremists, and organized criminal networks. Mr. McCarthy holds a background in international law and the law of international organizations, having studied at University College Cork (Ireland), Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany), and the University of Groningen (the Netherlands).
